Cooper King Distillery Transatlantic Single Malt Whisky is an exceptional Yorkshire single malt from highly innovative and eco-supremos Cooper King Distillery and is a must try. Their first edition sold out within minutes, and Transatlantic won't be around much longer either... so grab one while you can!

Heritage floor-malted grains are mashed by hand before an extended 6-7 day fermentation and double distillation in a 900 litre copper pot still. The spirit is then matured in a mix of ex-Bordeaux wine casks and ex-Bourbon casks.

TASTING NOTES

  • Nose: fruit compote, vanilla and toasted oak.
  • Taste: rich malt, cocoa, parkin and butterscotch.
  • Finish: long and complex with vanilla and cinnamon.

  • Casks: 81% ex-red wine / 12% refill bourbon / 7% ex-malt whiskey
  • Wood profile: 81% French oak / 19% American oak
  • Cask size: 90 litres to 110 litres

  • Grain: 100% floor-malted English Maris Otter barley

The distillery is run on 100% green energy! £5 from every bottle is donated to Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, to fund life-changing apprenticeships for young people in rural areas, to help protect vital UK habitats. Founded in 2016 by Dr Abbie Neilson and Chris Jaume after a stint in Tasmania learning at distilleries there, Cooper King is based 10 miles north of York.
