Cask Strength English Whisky

When a whisky is bottled straight from the cask without being reduced in alcoholic strength, it is often described as cask strength whisky. These tend to be rarer and so often command a higher price.

Usually the distiller has detected some special and worthy characteristics that they wish to preserve at that strength - drinkers can of course add water to bring the whisky to their desired strength. This is often advisable!
