ADNAMS AND DIGITAL DISTILLER TEAM UP TO OFFER ENGLISH WHISKY IN CASK

Rare opportunity to secure a cask of English Whisky from Adnams’ award-winning Copper House Distillery

LONDON, May 7th, 2024 - Adnams, the award-winning beers, spirits, and hospitality group, has teamed up with specialist English Spirits retailer, Digital Distiller, to offer a limited-edition release of aged English Whisky in casks.

A classic English Single Malt Whisky is available in New French Oak casks, as well as in ex-Bourbon barrels. Their triple award-winning Rye Malt (GOLD Category Winner, World Whiskies Award 2024) 1 is also offered in new French Oak, alongside a Triple Malt expression aged in new American Oak.

“Each of these whiskies has been carefully matched with the optimal cask expression to bring out the very best in the spirit”, explains John McCarthy, Head Distiller at Adnams.

“We are incredibly passionate about our distilling process and are proud of the consistently high feedback we see on an international level. “This latest collaboration is an exciting step and we are very excited to see how our loyal clientele, and those newer to our brand, will react.”

Based in Southwold, Suffolk, and operating for more than 150 years, Adnams has been making top quality spirits at their Copper House Distillery since 2010. Within just months of opening, they began receiving international recognition and claiming awards on the global stage.

This limited release gives enthusiasts, collectors, and investors the opportunity to secure a range of aged casks between 6 and 9 years old. John McCarthy said, “English whisky is still a relatively new category. When we started distilling, you could count the number of English Whisky distilleries laying down casks on one hand and still have spare fingers. Now, a dozen years later there are about 50.

Luckily, we started early, anticipating the rise in popularity, and developed these fine casks available for you to select from, offered by the guys at Digital Distiller. We understand the appeal of a cask you could call your own, bottled for your enjoyment or whoever you chose to share it with as really something special!”

While many buyers will choose to store, age, and then resell their cask in its entirety, Digital Distiller also offers the option to bottle casks with customised labels. Buyers can also receive samples from their cask to experience the maturation process first hand. 3 years storage is also included in the purchase price of each cask.

Alex Murray, CEO & Founder of Digital Distiller says: “We aim to simplify the process of owning a cask of English Whisky. By providing a transparent and easy-to-use service, we aim to accommodate the many different reasons that customers may have for buying and storing a cask.”

English Whisky has experienced remarkable growth in just a few years. The number of distilleries in England has increased tenfold in the past decade, and the quality of English whisky is now recognised as being among the best in the world. English whisky distillers are renowned for their experimentation and creativity, winning top awards.2

There are now nearly 50 whisky distilleries in production across England, from Cornwall to Northumberland, with over £1bn of whisky maturing in cask.2 Of that 50, nearly half are due to release new whiskies over the next 3-5 years.

Alex Murray, CEO and Founder of Digital Distiller adds: "English Whisky provides outstanding taste experiences for consumers. With every example I taste, the clearer it becomes that they are some of the best spirits in the world. We are delighted to partner with Adnams to showcase their award-winning whisky range in cask."

Cask prices start at £5,499 for the 6-year-old Single Malt in New French Oak.

Murray adds: “Whether you are looking for a spectacular investment gift for a child or grandchild, or run a whisky club, or just want to have your own whisky to sample over time, buying a cask of English Whisky is a rewarding option.”
