The Lakes Distillery Sequoia, The Whiskymaker's Editions English Whisky, 70cl

From the Lakes Distillery in Cumbria, the 'Sequoia'; inspired by the iconic ever-changing landscape in North California’s renowned wine country, that never fails to surprise and reward the curious adventurer.

Heavily influenced by a diverse combination of cask types and exploring the subtleties of flavour through blending, Sequoia paints a very different picture to most red wine influenced whiskies.

Bold and expansive, the drinking experience is deep and multi-dimensional, with complex layers and intrigue, ripe for discovery. On the nose and palate, redcurrants take the lead, stridently setting out for spiced chocolate, taking in red grapes and dried fruits, with pleasingly indulgent butterscotch, fig and cinnamon diversions along the way.

Launched in 2021, it was available in the UK exclusively in The Lakes Distillery’s heartland in Cumbria and in selected international markets.

The Whiskymaker’s Editions is a series of one-off releases showcasing the sense of adventure of our whiskymaker.  Each Edition is an exceptional diversion from The Lakes sherry-led house style; an expression of creative freedom, the product of a playground where instinct, experience and inspiration roam free.

Cumbria hosts the Lakes Distillery, founded in 2011 by Paul Currie, co-founder of Isle of Arran Distillery. Situated within a renovated farmstead by River Derwent in a national park, they innovate due to limited space, using custom stills for whisky and a smaller one for Lakes Gin/Vodka. Whisky master Dhavall Ghandi joined in 2016, infusing tradition with fresh inspiration. The Lakes introduced The Whiskymaker’s Reserve in 2019, a series of single malts. Located near Penrith, it's a gem of heritage and innovation.
