Christmas Gifts from England's Independent Distilleries

Order by 21st December for pre-Christmas Delivery

Christmas 2026

Find a unique gift with impact this Christmas

We only sell English spirits, and nearly everything we stock comes from small, independent producers you won't find on a supermarket shelf. That makes for a present with a story behind it, and a good chance the person opening it hasn't tried it before.

Below are our suggestions by person and by budget. And don't forget to treat yourself: we've included the English Whisky Subscription, glassware and flasks, and a few bottles we would happily keep for ourselves.

Order by Monday 21 December for UK delivery before Christmas. Free UK delivery on orders over £89.

Christmas Gift Guide: Who Are You Buying For?

Most people who ask us for help know the person well but not the spirit. Start with them, and we will point you to the right shelf.

The Whisky Lover who has everything

Limited releases and older bottlings from Bimber, The Lakes and White Peak. Most serious whisky drinkers have a shelf of Scotch; far fewer own anything like these.

Fine & Rare English Whisky

Someone new to English Whisky

A tasting set lets them try several distilleries before settling on a favourite, and makes a good starting point for a conversation over Christmas.

English whisky Tasting Sets

The committed Scotch drinker

English whisky needs at least three years in oak, as Scotch does, but English distillers are not bound by the Scotch Whisky Regulations. The result is more variety in grain, yeast and cask, which is exactly what a Scotch drinker will notice.

Award-Winning English Whisky

The gin drinker

Twelve English gins we would choose as presents this year, from classic London Dry to bottles built around a single local botanical.

The 12 Gins of Christmas

The rum drinker

England has a long history with rum and a small number of distilleries now make it here from molasses or sugar cane. Expect more variety than the familiar Caribbean styles.

English Rum

Someone with a sweet tooth

Cream liqueurs, fruit liqueurs and whisky liqueurs, all made in England. Good after Christmas lunch, as an evening treat, or poured over ice cream.

English Liqueurs

Someone who doesn't drink alcohol

Alcohol-free and lower-alcohol spirits made with the same attention as the full-strength bottles, so nobody is left with a glass of squash.

No and Low alcohol

Someone who likes 'doing' not just sipping

A distillery tour lets them see how the spirit is made, meet the people making it and taste it at source. Tours run across England, from Northumberland to West Sussex.

Distillery Tours

Someone who likes the unexpected

Whisky finished in mezcal casks, gins distilled with unusual botanicals and spirits from producers most people have never heard of. A good choice for the person who is hardest to surprise.

Something for Yourself

A good number of our Christmas orders are not presents at all. December is when many customers finally buy the bottle they have had their eye on all year, or stock up for a house full of guests.

If that is you, we would start with the twelve whiskies we have chosen for Christmas, the limited releases in our fine and rare range, or the English Whisky Subscription: a different English whisky every month for £54.00 including delivery, which you can pause or cancel whenever you like.

Christmas Gift Questions

What is the last order date for Christmas delivery?

For delivery to UK mainland addresses before Christmas, order by Thursday 17 December for standard delivery, or by Monday 21 December, 2:30pm for next working day delivery. Gift cards are sent by email and can be bought at any time.

Can you send a gift straight to the person I am buying for?

Yes. Enter their name and address as the delivery address at checkout.

Can I add a gift message?

Yes. You can add a personal gift message to your order before checkout, and we will include it with the parcel.

How does the English Whisky Subscription work as a present?

Each month we choose an English whisky and send a full 70cl bottle with our tasting notes, for £54.00 a month including delivery. Enter the recipient's address for delivery and pause or cancel from your account at any time, so you can give a few months or keep it running.

Is English whisky a good present for someone who drinks Scotch?

Usually, yes. English whisky must spend at least three years in oak, as Scotch does, but English distillers are not bound by the Scotch Whisky Regulations, so they have more freedom with grain, yeast and cask. A Scotch drinker will find it familiar enough to enjoy and different enough to be interesting.

Which English whisky would you choose for someone who has never tried one?

We would suggest a tasting set, so they can try several distilleries before buying a full bottle. If you would prefer a single bottle, choose something matured mainly in ex-bourbon casks, which tends to give honey, vanilla and orchard fruit rather than heavy smoke or rich sherry.

What can I buy if I have missed the Christmas delivery dates?

A Digital Distiller gift card is sent by email and can be spent on anything in our range, so it works right up to Christmas Day.

Can a Christmas present be returned?

Unopened items can be returned within 30 days of delivery. See our delivery and returns page for full details. Delivery and returns.
