Wire Works Pineau des Charentes Single Malt Whisky, 70cl
Wire Works Pineau des Charentes is a dual maturation of the distillery's lightly peated spirit, initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, and finished in a 500L cask which previously held the famous french aperitif.
Pineau des Charentes is produced by taking young, or un-aged, distilled eaux-de-vie of Cognac, and adding it to the fresh juice of crushed grapes, also known as ‘must’. After some time spent in cask, the result is close in nature to a fortified wine. The resulting whisky is rich and elegant, bursting with peaches and cream, dried fruits and nuts, and layers of stone fruit.

White Peak, a Derbyshire distillery established in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan, crafts English whisky, rum, and gin. Situated at a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a former wire works near River Derwent: thus the Wire Works brand. Their on-site process, from mashing malt to slow fermentation, influenced by local yeast, creates a unique flavour profile.
