DROP #002: EX-BORDEAUX RED WINE CASK

A unique, small-batch cask release crafted for those who love rich, full flavoured rum; matured for 28 months in Bordeaux red wine casks and bottled in February 2026. The wine-infused oak enriches this British-made rum with vibrant notes of wild strawberries, a crackle of black pepper, and the caramelised snap of crème brûlée. Bottled at a confident 50.7% ABV, this latest expression marries elegance with intensity yielding a bold yet beautifully balanced rum that showcases just how exciting cask maturation can be.

Distiller’s Drop #002 was distilled in copper and matured for 28 months in Bordeaux red wine casks from the Fronsac region of France, which previously held Merlot wine for five years. The wine-seasoned oak brings a vibrant new dimension to rum, adding depth of colour and layers of flavour.

Entered blind into The Spirits Business Rum & Cachaça Masters, it went up against rums from across the globe and came back with a Gold medal from some of the most renowned industry judges.

This is the second release in an series of what will quickly become highly collectible, limited expressions from DropWorks. Only 900 bottles made in this release.

Due to the very limited availability of this rum, we recommend to sip and savour it! Neat, over ice, or use it to max out classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned.

Distiller’s Drop is a series of limited-edition, truly small batch barrel-matured rums chosen by our Founder and Master Distiller, Lewis Hayes. Each one is a unique example from the barrel store, showcasing the flavour possibilities of British-made rum and thoughtful cask experimentation.

Fermentation used the wild trinity yeast that is a world-first and exclusive to all DropWorks Rums. The spirits are distilled through either/or column, double pot and double retort distillation methods using extremely narrow cuts before maturation.

Since DropWorks Rum Distillery opened its doors in 2023, everything has built towards this. An exclusive range of small-batch, limited cask bottlings. Each Drop is hand-selected by their Master Distiller to showcase creativity, quality and individuality.
