Wire Works Coastal Smoke Single Malt Whisky, 70cl

Wire Works Coastal Smoke is a dual maturation of their lightly-peated spirit, distilled with two sets of cut points for added complexity, initially matured in first fill ex-bourbon barrels from Heaven Hill, and finished in Islay whisky barrels.

Coastal Smoke introduces an extra dimension to their lightly-peated spirit, with exposure to two different types of peat. Mainland peat is used to malt the barley, and Islay peated whisky has seasoned the barrels used for final maturation, developing distinct layers of flavour in the final whisky.

Nose: Baked vanilla cheesecake, lemon meringue, campfire ash, candied ginger, fruit salad sweets, fresh pineapple juice, smoked meats, murray mints
Palate: Jaffa cakes, jelly baby sweets, banana, fresh mango and papaya, peaches and cream, peppermint, rhubarb, fennel, macadamia nuts
Finish: Malted biscuits, sage, lavender, soft lingering peat, orange marmalade, sherbet.

White Peak, a Derbyshire distillery established in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan, crafts English whisky, rum, and gin. Situated at a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a former wire works near River Derwent: thus the Wire Works brand. Their on-site process, from mashing malt to slow fermentation, influenced by local yeast, creates a unique flavour profile.
