The English Distillery - Smokey Virgin Oak Cask Whisky, smoky and complex, this tasty whisky, aged in Smokey Virgin Oak Casks (and bottled in 2022) is testament to the skill of the team at The English Distillery, and how long they have been in operation (since 2007).

This peaty dram offers an intense taste of smoky, rich flavours that showcase brilliantly the positive effect of using a virgin oak cask (something that is not permitted in Scotland!).

Award winning English Whisky
The English Distillery uses slow processes, traditional equipment and honest, local ingredients. James Nelstrop's original goal for the distillery was to create England's finest single-malt whisky. Pure Breckland water is drawn from the spring underneath the distillery and the barley is sourced locally.

The Distillery
In 2005, co-founder James Nelstrop decided to make a life-long dream a reality and submitted a planning application for England’s first whisky distillery in over 100 years. It was officially opened in the summer of 2007 by his Majesty King Charles III. Iain Henderson, a renowned distiller formerly at Laphroaig, led the distillation of the first whisky. The business is now led by James Nelstrop’s son Andrew who is building a legacy of exemplary English whisky with approachable, world class spirits.
